Why 3 L's? Well, to make a long story short, Crilll was named after an alien that appeared in his father's dream a couple years before Crilll's arrival. The alien happened to be wearing a name tag with the third L prominently displayed. The name stuck with his father.

 

An interesting side note - crill with 2 L's is a slang term for a small sack of crack. Fortunately, Crilll with 3 L's is something completely different.
